About communications & marketing
Communications & Marketing (CM) overview team
The School of Kinesiology’s Communications and Marketing (CM) team is comprised of the CM Manager, Administrative Associate, and student interns. This team leads all CM-related activities internally and externally. Externally, this team focuses on tactics on a unit-level. The CM team also works to ensure our unit adheres to branding/style guidelines, as well as CM practices, provided by CEHD and the U of M.
What does School of Kinesiology Communications & Marketing do?
On behalf of the School, below are the areas the CM team focuses on:
Social media
Websites (kin.umn.edu, the kintranet, and lab sites)
Email newsletters
Branding and strategy
Media relations and public relations
News blog posts
Research poster printing
Updating digital faculty profiles
Print materials (ex: Program handouts for an event)
New faculty: Lab website process
Our faculty have their own lab websites that the CM team helps create. Let the CM Manager know when you're ready to have the website created and what content you would like to include. To get an idea of what other lab websites look like, visit kin.umn.edu/research.
CM will create your new lab website and input the initial content. After this, labs have a designated website manager (usually a graduate student) that makes content-focused updates (ex: Updating the people in your lab on the site, updating projects on the site). The lab manager will get training on the website platform so they're prepared for these updates.
If you have larger structural-related updates you want to make (ex: Change the entire look of the website, change the main navigation, etc.), feel free to reach out to the CM team for help.
